I’m wanting to replace an enameled dutch oven pan that has become badly chipped over the years.
Looking in the stores, some enameled pans seem heavier than others. Is cast iron enamel different from porcelain enamel?
Advice and info appreciated.
If they’re different, what are the pros and cons of each?
Any brand recommendations?

fda tell people not to use enameled cup to drink coffee or other acidic drinks because of the lead and other heavy metal in enamel. le creuset says in the site that their cookwares are lead, but it doesn’t say it is heavy metal free. is enameled cookware safe?
Porcelain enamel cookware on glass cooktop?

I just purchased a set of Rachael Ray’s Porcelain Nonstick Cookware. The brochure inside says not recommended for glass/ceramic cooktops and Maytag says to follow cookware manufacturers recommendations but I’ve seen many reviews saying people don’t have problems as long as they don’t let the pans boil dry or use high heat for extended periods of time. Anyone out there who has used these pans on a glass cooktop? Results? Thanks!

I have two pans that I think are enamel, they’re white on the inside and everything sticks. I just tried to cook some bacon pieces and even they stuck so bad I had to use oven cleaner to get it off. The last time I used one, I was boiling pasta and it stuck very badly as well.
They have sentimental value and I don’t want to get rid of them. I was just hoping to utilize them and not just store them away. I do cook with cast iron too, just really thought there should be a way to make these useable.

I saw this online and i feel in love with it does anyone else have one ? do you like yours? and even if you dont have one i would like to know on a scale of 1- 10 how easily does it chip …. of course i will take good care of it but i dont want something that as soon as you put it on the stove it will chip ….

Can enamel cookware be used in the oven?

I just purchased an enamel dutch oven shaped pot from Macy’s today. It did not come with a box as this was the display because no others were available. I am wanting to know if enamel pots can be used in the oven? I have never had enamel pots, only stainless steel. This is not a cast iron pot, just plain enamel. I do not want to mess up the pot or oven! Please help

I meant to mention it has a metal rim around the edge of the lid, but elsewhere it is red enamel on the outside and white on the inside. I do not know if this is important in determining whether it can be used in the oven.

Can enamel coated cast iron cookware be repaired?

I have a cast iron dutch oven with a ceramic coating and have notice some fine micro-cracks in the enamel on the cooking surface. It hasn’t chipped yet, but I am afraid it will over time. Can the pot be reglazed, protected or repaired somehow?
Can a pin hole in the enamel on enamel-coated cast iron cookware cause enamel to crack?

We just got a shipment of enamel-coated cast iron cookware today and the skillet seems to have unfinished enamel on it. There’s a small, pin-sized hole on the bottom on the inside. We were wondering if anything could get between the enamel and the cast iron or if it might chip at a later date?
Or any other problems it might cause? Please let us know if we need to return the product.
