What cookware do you reccomend?

03 Apr

I love to cook, but I hate my cookware. The cookware we own is quickly becomming inadequate as my skill increases and dishes get more complex. Ive learned a lot but there are so many different types of cookware that I am unsure what to buy. I would like ot hear from those who consider themsleves accomplished in the kitchen or perhaps are chefs or chefs assistants. Do you prefer stainless steel, enamel, copper clad etc.

Thank you in advance for your opinions
Cast iron is great, but it hurts a hell of a lot more when the wife swings it ;)
We have a gas stove and oven

Which is better when buying cookware: enamel or porcelain?

02 Apr

I want to purchase a new cookware set, but I don’t like those non-stick coated pans (because they scratch off). So its either porcelain or enamel are my nonstick options, but I’ve never used the before so I don’t know which is better and the last time I bought pots I went on the clerk’s reccomendation and they were just expensive junk so I thought I’d ask people who have no stake in my purchasing pots. Thanks :)

What type of cookware is safe to use on an enamel top range?

02 Apr

I would like to purchase a good cookware set for my mother (who does a lot of cooking) for Christmas and she has a new Whirlpool electric range that has a flat, enamel cook-top. I’m having trouble finding anything that says its safe for use on this type of range – even the user’s manual doesn’t really give any suggestions.

What is the best cookware out there to buy?

01 Apr

If I am going to spend money on a cookware set, price doesn’t matter as long as the quality is dependable. I am just wondering which kind of cookware set would be the best to buy and the safest. I was looking at Calphalon but then found that they use Teflon in their enamel sets, which is not good. But then I also read that the stainless steel versions don’t move heat evenly throughout the pans. Just any opinions on what would be the best investment for a cookware set would be appreciated. Thanks!

Where can I find the best price for enamelled cast iron cookware? But still retaining quality?

01 Apr

I know Williams Sonoma sells some, JC Penney (but I don’t think there Le Creuset is as good as WS) and there is some no name brand at Target. Can anyone tell me their experience with Le Creuset and also help me to find a good cookware set that can last me forever. Thanks!

Can’t find replacement lids for cookware?

01 Apr

My sister gave me a set of black Cook’s Essentials hard-coat enamel cookware, and none of the pots & pans have lids. These are great pans that work well with my smooth glass top stove, but I can’t find any place that carries replacement lids for this brand.

JC Penny has lids available online only, purported to fit “almost” every pan… But only in 8″, 10″, & 12″ sizes. I have a couple square pans and several small pots, too.

Before I start buying lids that might not fit, does anyone know of a source for the correct brand lids, that doesn’t require you to buy the pans as well?

What are the + and – of Le Creuset versus high-quality stainless steel cookware?

01 Apr

Any differences (such as ease of use, cleaning, dishwasher safe, etc.) are helpful. We don’t plan to buy cookware a lot of times. We’re considering a Le Creuset 9-piece enamel-over-iron set versus three-ply stainless steel (Emeril Pro-Clad, Cuisinart Multiclad Pro, Marcus Samuelsson, Le Creuset) and five-ply discontinued cookware from Spring of Switzerland (Dr. Weil brand)).

The more I look, the more confused I get. Maybe I just can’t go wrong with any of them and should just decide.

Thanks!

What would be a better buy: Rachael Ray 10 pc. Hard Anodized cookware or Calphalon 10 pc. Enamel cookware?

31 Mar

They are both within 10 dollars of each other on the price but i’m wondering which would be better quality in the long run. Which would be more durable, easier to clean and cook with, and safest for my family. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Warranty info for Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel Cookware Set?

31 Mar

The coating inside my Rachael Ray 10″ skillet is starting to come off. The cookware is covered by a lifetime warranty. But I can’t find anything online about the warranty and how to contact the “manufacturer”. Has anyone had experience with using the warranty to replace pots/pans? What is the process? I can’t find my paperwork that came with my set. Thank you.

Enamel or Anodized cookware…Which is better?

31 Mar

I’m planning on buying a set of the 10 piece Rachel Ray cookware. I’m debating between the Green Enamel w/non-stick coating or the Anodized. I have enough money for either so I’m more concerned about quality for cooking and durability. I want them to last a long time! Does anyone know which is better in the long run?

Which Rachael Ray cookware set is better? Also, where can I buy corningware, like a 9×13 glass casserore/dish?

31 Mar

Hard Anodized; Porcelain Enamel Cookware Set; or Stainless Stell (much less popular on Amazon.com).

Also, is the anodized one safe? I’ve read they are relatively nonstick. What about the Enamel?

Hard Anodized:

Enamel:

Stainless Steel:

Please keep in mind that I am a VERY VERY BASIC cook. Plus I’m on a budget. I’m just tired of using my Club Aluminum my sis-in-law gave me in 1993. It’s embarrassing to use.

Also — where can I buy glass cookware (9×13, etc) cheaply?

Thanks!!!!

Should I buy Le Creuset or Lodge brand cast iron?

31 Mar

I know that Lodge is generally a lot cheaper, but do I want to trade the money for quality? For those of you that don’t know, Le Creuset is a casting company in northern France that produces enameled cast iron cookware. This enamel coating means that you never have to season the Le Creuset cast iron. Lodge is an American casting business located in Tennesee that produces cast iron cookware that is not enamel coated. This means that you would have to season the pot/pan every time you wash it. I’m looking to buy a pretty large dutch oven (7-9 qt.) that will last a long time. What brand should I buy?
