Chipped enamel cast iron cookware?
I bought a brand new cast iron skillet with a red porcelain coating on the outside at a thrift store. Well I did not pay enough attention to detail. When I got it home and unwrapped it I found out it has several chips on the exterior that show the cast iron. These chips are up near the top edge of the skillet but the interior is plain cast iron and is fine. I want to know if there is a way to smooth the edges of the chipped area so that it will not chip off too much more. Or I can take it back if I do it in the next few days. Advice please!
I don’t why cookware buy? what’s the difference between nonstick coating and nonstick?
I don’t know if there’s a difference between nonstick coating and nonstick Enameled I liked the new “farberware 10 pc. porcelain cookware” but I don’t know if it is a good cookware, also I Like the “Anolon Advanced Bronze”
which of these cookware the best is ?
and the other the @farberware porcelain cookware” is it a fine cookware, too?
How can I remove spots from enamel covered cast iron cookware?
It looks like water spot stains. But they won’t wash off with soap and water .
Le Creuset Cookware with worn enamel on the interiorbottom?
Is it safe to use LeCreuset cookware with worn spots on the interior? Just picked up two nice pieces at an estate sale for peanuts, wondering if this would be a health problem or just cause occasional sticking.
What does it mean to “season the rim” of a Dutch oven/slow cooker?
The directions say – “Although the enamel coating on your cookware does not require seasoning, we recommend seasoning the vessel rim and lid rim where the cast iron is exposed with cooking oil. Heat your cookware in oven at 350 degrees for one hour”.
Is it telling me to rub oil (not sure what is best) on the rims and then cook it by itself in the oven?
Is Cast iron safe to cook with?
I am thinking about getting these as a gift? I want to know what you think about them.

Do you have anything to support your answers with? (Proof). I know that is what people cooked on in the old days and I just want to know from everyone who does cook out there about these. Thank you for your kind answers.

Hairline Fracture Enameled Cast Iron?
I fell asleep and by the time I woke up, I had overheated my Lodge enameled cast iron dutch oven and very fine blacken lines have developed on the bottom interior of the cookware. In the past, I have also did similar thing to my clay pots and all (though not because of sleeping), so I am assuming this is quiet common for careless person like me.
Now, do I have any reason to believe that had I have a Le Creuset French oven (3 times more expensive), this would have avoided?
In other words, do any of you have Le Creuset French oven and have seen hairline fracture in your cookware? Thank you.
I was boiling baking soda in the dutch oven for cleaning the cookware and then fell asleep, so it can be a combination of very basic baking soda and overheating. No sure.
Thanks, Rachel. I don’t think it is a severely damage either, as I have other cookware which also developed hairline. Still, I feel like so careless.
Thanks, Nikki. I guess I wasn’t really thinking about rusting. My previous hairline fracture pots are clay-based pots, so there isn’t really a problem. Still, it may be difficult to get water into hairline fractures because they are so fine. They are really finer than my hair. I am already in the process of contacting Lodge. I am not looking for a replacement, as it is really my mistake. If the fine hairline fractures are problems, then I will just buy a new one.
