Best Cookware , Pots and Pans To Use?

14 Apr

I’d like to buy new pots and pans. The last set I bought was from QVC, their Cooks Essentials line. They do NOT hold up like they say on TV..not pleased at all. I am about ready to throw them all out.
Anyway, I prefer non stick but have also thought about the enameled cast iron lines (Le Creuset, etc.) too.
Just wondering what you use in your own kitchen and what you like about it? It’s an expensive purchase, so I’m trying to round up as much good info. as I can before I decide. Thanks!

I needed new pans, but didn’t have a lot of money to spend. I bought a set from walmart.com. They are WearEver. I believe I paid around $65 for the set. They have held up very well, especially for being a cheaper set, and have even stood up to my boyfriend’s cooking :) The non-stick coating in the pans is great. Haven’t had a problem with anything sticking bad at all. If you are looking for something fancy, though, they probably aren’t for you.

Cast iron skillets are the best to cook with and the best for your health. Non-stick coated pans are very bad for you health. If you were to put on on a burner and turn the burner on. The fumes from the coating would kill a bird in your house. Just wanted to give you some input before you decide. I threw away every pan I had with non stick coatings. Now I use cast iron, porcelain, and aluminum.

I use All Clad LTD and could not be more pleased with it. Chefs and Williams Sonoma often have sets on sale, which is a good way to start–being open stock, you can always add to. Many pieces are available in non-stick as well. Not only do the shapes and sizes suit me very well, the clean up with all pieces is easy. I think you’ll find that it’s well worth the price of admission.
